“My grandfather gave me my first film camera, and I fell in love with the medium, especially the limited number of frames. It forced me to slow down my rather frantic artistic process and only then did I begin to notice moments I typically passed without second thought.”

James Van Cleve is a photographer with a passion for capturing life in its purest form. After graduating from Rhodes College in 2025, he moved to New Mexico in pursuit of capturing adventures in the western landscape. Keen on physical activity, his photography explores human movement in both natural and manmade environments.

Currently based in Taos, NM, James’ mission is to witness and capture beauty in both the mundane and spectacular.
